You’re Being Summoned Azazel Comedy Manga

Azazel, a stage play adaptation of Yasuhisa Kubo’s comedy manga You’re Being Summoned, is scheduled to be performed at Mixalive TOKYO Theater Mixa from February 10 to 26, 2023, Nelke Planning announced today. This follows the well-received TV anime adaptations by Production I.G in 2011 and 2013 of the manga. Various stage plays and musical adaptations of well-known Japanese manga and anime, including Naruto, The Prince of Tennis, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and many more, have been produced by the theatrical production firm.

From 2007 to 2019, You’re Being Summoned, Azazel was published in serial form in Kodansha’s seien manga magazine Evening. It was then collected in 16 tankobon volumes. From April to July 2011, its TV anime’s first season aired, and from April to June 2013, You’re Being Summoned, Azazel Z, its second season.

The events from the original manga are accurately replicated in the stage play, which uses life-sized dolls to portray the adorable demons that may be called to the human realm. Azazel’s voice actor from the anime series, Masaya Onosaka, also plays the same part in the play. Naru Kawamoto, a popular Japanese comedian who has previously performed as Takashi Kawamura in animated films (The Prince of Tennis), will write and direct the film.

Synopsis:

Have a stalker you can’t seem to get rid of? Concerned that your husband may be unfaithful? Akutabe is a detective who summons demons to perform his dirty job; you may want to hire him. His techniques may seem unconventional, yet he consistently achieves results. Even though Akutabe is very strong, controlling demons requires skill. Before Akutabe pushes Sakuma, his new part-time employee and a young college student, into a demonic contract with Azazel, she has little opportunity to learn the finer qualities of mastering demons. Azazel has all the characteristics of a demon, including laziness, desire, and depravity.
