
Urusei Yatsura Reboot Anime’s Lum VA Sumire Uesaka Covers
The first opening song for the 1981 Japanese television anime Urusei Yatsura, “Lum no Love Song” (Lum’s Love Song), is currently being broadcast on YouTube in a 90-second teaser clip. Sumire Uesaka, who is now portraying Lum, the main heroine in the continuing relaunch, sang this cover song.

The song “Lum no Love Song,” which was initially made available as Yuko Matsutani’s debut single on October 21, 1981, served as the anime’s opening theme for two years, from the show’s first through its 100th episode. When the fourth Anime Grand Prix was held in 1981, it was well appreciated by anime fans and won the Anime Song Award, which was chosen by votes cast by Animage magazine readers of Tokuma Shoten.
The extra CD for the first DVD/Blu-ray box of the reboot anime, which will be released in Japan on March 25, 2023, will include Uesaka’s cover version.
Naoyuki Asano, the character designer for the reboot anime, created the DVD/Blu-ray box art.
