Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest Theatrical Anime’s Video Reveals
The “Ensemble Concert” arc of Kyoto Animation’s Sound! Euphonium anime’s scheduled theatrical release will debut in Japan in the summer of 2023, the studio said on Tuesday. Tokubetsuhen Hibike is the name of the anime. Contest for ensembles using euphonium.

A “medium-length” animation for the “Ensemble Concert” arc was previously hinted at by Kyoto Animation (longer than a short, shorter than a feature). The anime will be shown in theatres and released on Blu-ray Disc.

The anime will once again be directed by Tatsuya Ishihara at Kyoto Animation.
In 2024, Kumiko’s third year of high school will be shown in Kyoto Animation.

In two book volumes, original light novelist Ayano Takeda wrote the tale of Kumiko’s third year in high school. The first volume was sent out in April 2019, and the second one in June.

The band’s goal of winning gold at Nationals is once again emphasised in the books. With her ex-boyfriend Shuuichi Tsukamaoto serving as vice president and Reina Kousaka serving as drum major, Kumiko is the new band president. Like last year, the new first-years bring their own eccentricities to the band. Maya Kuroe, a euphonium player from Seira Girls School, is one of them. In the school competition scene and at Sapphire’s previous school, Maya is a powerful opponent.
The franchise’s first 13-episode television anime series debuted in April 2015. The anime was broadcast live on Crunchyroll, and Ponycan USA made the episodes available on home video. The Gekij-ban Hibike was inspired by anime! Euphonium: In April 2016, Kitauji Kk Suisgaku-Bu e Ykoso released a “flashback” movie.
In October 2016, the 13-episode Sound! Euphonium 2 follow-up series debuted. Ponycan USA distributed the series on home video, and Crunchyroll steamrolled it once again as it aired. The compilation film Gekij-ban Hibike! Euphonium: Todoketai Melody, released in September 2017, was inspired by the sequel series.
Then, Kyoto Animation revealed two further anime movies for the series in 2017. In April 2018, the Japanese premiere of the Liz and the Blue Bird movie, which centres on Mizore Yoroizuka and Nozomi Kasaki. In November 2018, Eleven Arts released the movie with English dub and subtitles in American cinemas. The movie was released on Blu-ray Disc and DVD by Shout! Factory in March 2019.
Sound! Euphonium, the second new movie In April 2019, Japan saw the release of the film Our Promise: A Brand New Day (Hibike! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale). Kumiko is followed throughout the movie as a second-year student. The movie was shown in the United States by Eleven Arts in July 2019, and in June 2020, it was made available on home video.
