A unique side tale will be released by Solo Leveling in memory of their artist.

In order to pay tribute to Dubu, the artist of Solo Leveling, the company intends to publish a new side narrative of the game, as stated by REDICE Studio and translated by Manhwa Bang. “The author was a revered person by everyone he worked with, and he left behind many exceptional students in the globe while operating a firm and a studio,” REDICE Studio said of Dubu, describing him as “a leader, teacher, and pioneer of painting.” The narrative will be illustrated in Dubu’s honour by a group of artists that collaborated with him. It is uncertain at this moment if there will be more than one unique narrative or what its plot will be.

Dubu’s Dual Role

Dubu, also known as Jang Sung-Rak, served as the CEO of REDICE Studio in addition to being the artist for the Solo Leveling comics translation. From March 2018 until December 2021, he worked on the adaptation. REDICE Studio said Dubu had passed away on July 23, 2022, as a result of a chronic illness-related brain haemorrhage.

Sung Jinwoo, the weakest hunter in the world, is the focus of Solo Leveling, which is based on Chugong’s very successful webnovel. Jinwoo begins working as a Hunter despite often suffering life-threatening injuries in order to support his family in the wake of his father’s inexplicable disappearance. He eventually discovers that there is a second underground dungeon that is significantly more perilous after joining a D-Rank dungeon raid. Jinwoo is selected to be a Player by the System as a consequence of his ability to survive the encounter. Jinwoo is able to get stronger and ‘level up’ without any restrictions once he becomes a Player. Jinwoo went from being the weakest hunter to the greatest hunter in the world, and now he must utilise his newfound power to stop numerous monsters from destroying the earth.

Dubu Expressed His Excitement Over the Anime Adaptation

A-1 Pictures announced that the company will turn Shunsuke Nakashige’s Solo Leveling into an anime, with Noboru Kimura penning the story and Hiroyuki Sawano providing the music. Shortly after, Dubu released a statement in which he expressed his enthusiasm for the anime. We received the offer for the anime adaptation, it seems like just yesterday, he stated. “When I consider that the anime is really being developed right now, I feel completely overwhelmed. All of this is a result of your love and support for solo levelling, fans. I’m overjoyed with thanks. I really appreciate it.”

On December 29, 2021, the webcomic’s 179 chapters came to an end. Dubu praised his helpers, Chugong, and the readers at the conclusion of the series. He said to his audience, “You must continually level up in life, sometimes by yourself and sometimes with others. So, good luck to all of my readers on the rest of your adventure! We appreciate your support of solo levelling. Up till then!”
