The Animax Asia channel started airing on Jio TV from Reliance earlier this week in India. On the Jio TV set-top box and mobile app, the channel is streamed linearly on channel 444.
The channel is only presently accessible with Japanese audio without subtitles while it is in testing mode.
In May 2020, Sony Pictures Entertainment took Animax Asia off of its Sony LIV application. Regarding the channel’s removal, Sony didn’t issue a formal statement. In the same week as the withdrawal, KC Global Media formally bought four Asian pay-TV networks from Sony Pictures Entertainment, among them Animax Asia.
The purchase of three entertainment networks that are aired in Southeast Asia and South Korea has been agreed upon, according to Variety’s January 2021 story on former Sony Pictures Television executives Andy Kaplan and George Chien. “AXN-branded channels in the area, the anime-focused Animax, and South Korea’s Sony One entertainment channel” are among the three networks. The Japanese entertainment provider GEM is also a part of the final deal.
Between July 2004 and April 2017, Animax India, the Indian subsidiary of Animax Asia, aired on cable and DTH television. Over the course of its existence, the channel underwent a number of modifications. Animax India began airing all of its content in English in August 2006 and was removed from DTH systems in 2012. In April 2017, Sony Pictures Entertainment began broadcasting Animax Asia on the Sony LIV app at the same time that it replaced the channel with Sony Yay.
