The One Piece Film Red anime’s run in Japanese cinemas will come to an end on January 29, according to a statement made on Sunday by the One Piece franchise’s official YouTube account.

The movie had the most revenue in terms of both dollars and yen at the box office in Japan in 2022. As of December 25, the movie had taken in 18.78 billion yen (about $141.6 million USD) and had sold around 13 million tickets.

On August 6, One Piece Film Red debuted in Japan. In terms of both the quantity of tickets sold and the amount of money made at the box office, the picture has emerged as the highest-selling and highest-earning film entry in the series. The anime ranks as the #9 highest-earning movie in Japan overall and as the #6 highest-earning anime movie.

One Piece Film Red was made available on Crunchyroll on November 4 in the US, Canada, and Australia and on November 3 in New Zealand and Australia. In its second week in the country, the movie earned US$12,768,073, placing it eighth at the box office.

The main focus of the movie is Shanks’ daughter Uta, a new character. Uta’s singing voice is Ado, while Kaori Nazuka provides the character’s speaking voice. Ado also sings “Shinjidai,” the movie’s theme song (“New Genesis”). One Piece Film Red was directed by Goro Taniguchi (Code Geass, One Piece: Defeat The Pirate Ganzak! special). The script was written by Tsutomu Kuroiwa (One Piece Film Gold, One Piece: Heart of Gold, GANTZ:O, and the live-action Black Butler), while Eiichiro Oda, the author of the One Piece comic, acted as executive producer.
