On January 2, the Televi-Kun official Twitter account of Shogakukan, the publisher of the manga magazine, revealed that Gosaku Outa had died away on December 12, 2022. He was 74.

Sponichi claims that his relatives informed them that he was getting medical care at a facility in the Gunma Prefecture. He was sent to the emergency hospital at the end of November after testing positive for COVID-19. He got pneumonia and didn’t go back home. His immediate family members previously attended the burial and goodbye ceremony.

With the shoujo manga Boyfriend Yai, he made his debut in 1969 after serving as Shotaro Ishinomori’s assistant (under the name of Junichiro Yamagami). His comic adaptations of the Mazinger anime series, including Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, and UFO Robot Grendizer, were widely recognised throughout the 1970s. Because of his own distinctive individuality that set his works apart from the anime, several fans held such works in high respect as legendary creations. Additionally, from 1976 to 1977, he wrote the original script for the robot anime series Groizer X.
