“Kirakira,” the theme song, is performed by SHISHAMO.

Yoshitoki Ima, author of the manga series To Your Eternity and A Silent Voice, created the first character designs. The animation was directed by Koichi Chigira (Tokyo Babylon, Full Metal Panic!, Last Exile) at Bandai Namco Filmworks.

The setting for the anime is the “smart city” that Kyocera had in mind. In the clip, characters use hashtags and aerial displays to express themselves. Yume, who lacks confidence, attempts to create a unique hashtag, or “rare tag.” Her senior, Minoru, has a lot of “unusual tags.”

The first 5-minute-long original animation produced by Kyocera is titled “Anata o Hitokoto de Arawashite Kudasai” no Shitsumon ga Nigate da. (I’m Not Good at the “Please Describe Yourself in One Word” Question.) started broadcasting in January 2022 on Kyocera’s YouTube account.

The animation portrays both the concerns of job searchers and the “smart city” that Kyocera imagined, where everyone may live happily and securely with the aid of cutting-edge technology. The title and plot of the anime allude to both the challenging task of summarising Kyocera’s varied company in a single word and the frustration felt by job candidates when asked to sum up themselves in a single word during interviews. (In Japan, the season for finding a job for those just out of college) starts in March.

Ima created the first character sketches. The animation at Sunrise was directed by Chigira. The song’s soundtrack included songs from the four-piece rock group The Songbards.
