Kakuriyo -Bed & Breakfast for Spirits- Novels Get New Manga on January 26 2023
The light novel series Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits (also known as Kakuriyo Yadomeshi or Afterlife Inn Cooking) by authors Midori Yma and artist Laruha is the source material for a new manga adaptation that will debut in the magazine’s next issue on January 26. The manga’s artwork is by Tsugaru Toba. There will be a colour opening page on the first 88-page chapter.
Waco Ioka has already produced an ongoing manga adaptation of the books, which debuted in April 2016 in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC magazine and online. The manga’s eighth collected book volume was released by Kadokawa on April 1. The manga is being published by Viz Media under the name Kakuriyo: Bed & Breakfast for Spirits thanks to a licence. Aoi chooses to make a third alternative for herself when given the choice between being turned into food or being married to an odd spirit.
Aoi Tsubaki inherited both her grandfather’s enormous debt to spirits and his gift of seeing ghosts. In order to pay his debt, he has now abducted her and transported her to Kakuriyo, the ghost realm. Either she marries the innkeeper her grandpa destroyed, or she is devoured by an ayakashi. However, Aoi refuses to be pushed about by ghosts and is committed to paying up her grandfather’s IOU on her own terms.
Aoi needs a job to pay off her obligation to the Tenjin-ya inn, but she only has a day to do it and no employers would take her. Aoi is certain she can establish her value if she can simply persuade someone to look beyond her family history.
In 2015, Yma began the book series under Kadokawa’s Fujimi L Bunko banner, and on March 15, the publisher released the 12th volume.
A television anime that debuted in April 2018 was influenced by the books. Both Crunchyroll and Funimation broadcast the Japanese original of the series. The anime was also made available on home video in 2019 by Funimation.
