Baccano! Novels Get Manga Set
A manga adaptation of Ryohgo Narita’s Baccano! books titled Baccano! “from the 1700s” debuted on DMM’s DMM Books website on the same day, according to manga author Kakuji Fujita’s announcement on Sunday. The online comic is published by DMM’s Gigatoon Studio.

The manga is set in the 18th century in the little Italian village of Lotto Valentino. It concentrates on Huey Laforet, an alchemy apprentice, as he becomes involved in the scheme of the Mask Maker, a masked serial murderer terrorising the town. With drawings by Katsumi Enami, Narita (Durarara!) launched the continuing Baccano! light book series in 2003. In August 2016, Narita published the series’ last “1935” book, the series’ 22nd (and most recent) volume. In 2007, an anime version of the series was created.
The anime’s licensee, Funimation, says the following about the show:
1930 in America The criminal empires that were established by prohibition are still in operation. Gang conflicts are a given, and violent death is simply a sad fact of life. However, even in these terrible circumstances, certain crimes stand out. One of them is what occurs on the soon-to-be-retired Flying Pussyfoot train. Another is what will become of the rival bootlegger groups in New York. The fact that they feature immortal creatures is merely one of the causes.
The light book series is distributed in North America by Yen Press.
The two-volume manga series Baccano! 1931 The Grand Punk Railroad by Ginyuushijin was influenced by the light novel series. From 2007 to 2008, the manga was published in Kadokawa’s Monthly Dengeki Comic Gao! magazine. In Square Enix’s Young Gangan magazine, Shinta Fujimoto began a different manga adaptation in October 2015 and finished it in January 2017. In parallel with the Japanese publication, Yen Press obtained the manga’s rights and released the chapters online.
