The actor who will play Kozuki Momonosuke as an adult in the One Piece anime has been cast.

Hiro Shimono, a voice actor for Attack on Titan, will play Momonosuke for the first time in the next episode 1047, “Rise to the Dawn! The Peach Colored Dragon Rages,” according to the official One Piece series website. Shimono is well known for his roles as Nacht Faust in Black Clover and Zenitsu Agatsuma in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. He also portrayed Conny Springer in the very successful adaptation of Hajime Isayama’s manga. Ai Orikasa, who has portrayed Momonosuke in One Piece as an eight-year-old since 2013, will hand over the role to him.

Momonosuke’s Voice Actor Loves One Piece

Shimono commented on the article on the One Piece website, claiming to be a fan of the manga and the whole series since since the first “Romance Dawn” arc. He also pledged to respect Orikasa’s performance and keep it in mind when he plays the role as an adult. Orikasa sent a message to the news as well, reminiscing on how much she loved playing the role and expressing her hope that the audience will continue to love Momonosuke despite the voice change.

The third act of One Piece’s “Wano Arc,” which started with episode 892 back in 2019, is continued in episode 1047. This is by far the longest arc of the series. As the character chooses to get his body aged up by 20 years to help set up the climactic encounter between protagonist Luffy and the main antagonist of the Wano Arc, Kaido, the casting of adult Momonosuke is an indication that the epic is finally drawing to a close. Only a few dramatic bouts left, including the confrontation between Sanji and Zoro and their toughest opponents yet, Queen and King, which began in last week’s episode 1046, with practically all of the Straw Hat subordinates defeating Kaido’s group.

The One Piece manga keeps advancing beyond its television version while the anime stays in Wano. Eiichiro Oda, the series’ creator, has reassured fans that Luffy’s journey would continue despite reports to the contrary. As a result, we can expect to hear a lot more excellent voice acting from performers like Hiro Shimono and Mayumi Tanaka in the future.
