Akiko Higashimura’s Do You Remember Me? Romance Manga Gets Live-action Drama in South Korea
A live-action drama version of Akiko Higashimura’s (Tokyo Tarareba Girls, A Fake Affair) Do You Remember Me? was just announced by the Japanese publisher Bungeishunju. Staff and cast members from South Korea are now working on a romantic manga that will debut in 2023. The adaptation will be broadcast internationally, including in Japan.
The manga has been published on KakaoPage in Korea and Piccoma in Japan every week since 2020. Currently, translated editions of the manga are available in North America, France, Thailand, Vietnam, and Taiwan. There are now 11 tankobon volumes available in Japan. The English version’s summary for Tapas is as follows:
Lee Jihyun dreamt of being a fashion journalist as a child in a small village. At the age of 30, she is employed at a website that publishes celebrity rumours and wears a bulldog clip in her hair. She thinks back on her childhood infatuation, Jimin, as a result of a suspected romance involving her favourite actor, Haneul, and a colleague’s observation. Is Haneul indeed the guy she used to know? She gets in touch with Taein, a friend from her hometown, to confirm her thoughts, not realising that he has a love of his own.
Neostory and Initial Story will co-produce the drama in South Korea. The businesses are now developing the screenplay and casting the lead roles; cast announcements and details on distribution will come in 2023.

Akiko Higashimura’s message
I’ve always like watching Korean dramas and have seen a lot of them. I’ve also been trying my hand at serialising my freshly drawn comics in both Japan and Korea at the same time since I’ve been dreaming for a while that my work would be adapted into a Korean TV drama. The Korean drama adaptation has been chosen as a result of the efforts, and I’m shocked that my goal has come true! I am eager to see what sort of drama it will be as a lover of Korean dramas!
