The way Spider-rogues Man’s pass along their mantles is one of the most intriguing parts about them. Sometimes the titles are not surrendered voluntarily, as was the case when Harry Osborn took over Norman’s Green Goblin position in the past. In other cases, the transfer of power has been terrifying, as was the case with the Hobgoblin play starring actors like Roderick Kingsley and Ned Leeds. Ascension has caused a lot of conflict, even among Kraven’s family, but as Peter Parker often observes, whomever assumes these aliases, they always cause him a lot of grief — a recurring problem he’d want to get rid of.

With Peter Parker and Miles Morales: Spider-Men Double Trouble, this theme is revisited. As the plot shifts into an alternative universe, Peter hires Miles to work with him as a mentor. In his collection of artefacts, he kills Miles inside a special cup. Sadly, as issue #2 (written by Vita Ayala, Mariko Tamaki, VC’s Cory Petit, and Gurihiru) progresses, Peter’s efforts to save him go horribly wrong when he collides with Mysterio’s new apprentice and is captured.

After learning that Miles is being attacked by several Marvel bad guys after escaping the cup jail Mysterio built, Peter is determined to save him. He weaves around the Big Apple. Pete, however, is diverted when a young woman on a bicycle needs emergency treatment and assistance. Knowing that she has to escape as far away from the city’s parade of criminals as possible, he attempts to assist her in fixing her bike.

Sadly, there are indications that she is connected to Mysterio. Her bike matches the renowned villain’s green and purple colour scheme, as do her dress and hair. Oddly, as she accelerates away, she dons a helmet like Mysterio and turns on a huge hand on the back of her bike. Her real disposition somehow prevents Peter’s Spider-Sense from going off when it snatches him and holds him prisoner.

As the girl carries Peter away, the narrative is unsettling despite how absurd it seems. Because Peter’s Spider-Sense is difficult to overcome, she could again blindside him. Not to mention, like Mysterio, she seems to have a lot more technology concealed behind her sleeve. She also has a strong desire to introduce Peter to Mysterio since she reveres the villain and wants to become his ultimate protege.

Peter finds this annoying, but it illustrates the influence Mysterio has on this girl and his authority. She is a devoted, pure follower, which might appeal to Mysterio’s ego since he isn’t often one for cults or companions. As a result, Mysterio could be inspired and adopt the teenager, making them a lethal team. After she joins forces with Mysterio, Peter will need to adjust and rethink his strategy since he and Miles may not be able to defeat such highly developed adversaries.
