8 Man vs Cyborg 009 Manga Ends in Next Chapter

The 8 Man vs. Cyborg 009 manga, written by Kyoichi Nanatsuki (Project ARMS, Genma Taisen Rebirth), and illustrated by Masato Hayase (Genma Taisen Rebirth), will come to an end in the next chapter, according to an announcement made on Thursday in this year’s March issue of Akita Shoten’s Champion RED magazine. The manga is not listed by Akita Shoten as appearing in the February 17 edition.
In July 2020, the crossover manga debuted in Champion RED magazine. The manga reached its final phase, the magazine revealed in October. The original work was created by Jiro Kuwata, Kazumasa Hirai, and Shotaro Ishinomori. The comic also lists Ishinomori Pro as an artist.

The Cyborg 009 manga by Shotaro Ishinomori served as the basis for television anime series in 1968, 1979, and 2001 as well as films in 1966, 1967, and 1980. More recently, the manga served as the basis for the films 009 Re:Cyborg (2012) and Cyborg 009 Call of Justice (2016). The manga also served as the basis for a 2015 crossover original video animation (OVA), Devilman.

The plot centres on an international organisation called Black Ghost, which aspires to keep the world at war forever. Nine people are kidnapped by Black Ghost, who transforms them into cyborg soldiers, but the soldiers rebel and fight back against Black Ghost.

Based on Ishinomori’s original series, the Cyborg 009 Bgooparts Delete manga by Tsuguo Okazaki debuted in July 2019 and ran through September.

The 1963 television animation was based on the 8 Man manga by Jiro Kuwata and Kazumasa Hirai. In 1993, The 8 Man After made its premiere on VHS.

English-language DVDs of the television anime were issued by T.A. Productions and Mental Brain Media, respectively. According to Mental Brain Media, the narrative is:

He’s the powerful robot, he’s the one to get, faster than a rocket, quicker than a jet!
Professor Genius, a super scientist, found Special Agent Brady’s corpse after it had been stolen by thieves. He implanted Agent Brady’s mind into Tobor, an upgraded super robot that fights crime!

The 8 Man After OAV was made available on DVD in English by Image Entertainment and Discotek Media.
