
The second instalment in the Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- anime film series, Scherzo of Deep Night (Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Kuraki Yyami no Scherzo), will debut in Indian cinemas on February 10 according to a tweet from PVR Pictures on Saturday.
After a postponement, the second movie finally debuted in Japan on October 22 and topped the box office rankings in its first weekend. As of December 6, the movie’s cumulative earnings stood at 1,076,475,134 yen, or around $7.97 million.
A familiar cast is included in the movie. Additionally, Ysuke Kobayashi portrays Morte, and Kaede Hondo plays Liten.
Ayako Kohno (unit director on High School Fleet, The Seven Deadly Sins the Movie: Prisoners of the Sky, and Black Butler: Book of the Atlantic) and Kento Toya (character designer on The Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of The Commandments, Sword Art Online: Alicization – War of Underworld) both returned to direct the movie at A-1 Pictures. Yuki Kajiura once again composed the soundtrack, while Yasuyuki Kai once more directed the action. Song “Shinz,” sung by Eir Aoi (Heart) .
The first anime movie in the project, Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria of a Starless Night, debuted in Japan in October 2021 and dominated the box office in its first weekend. More than 40 nations and territories saw the movie during its international premiere. In India, PVR Pictures released the movie in February 2022.
The Sword Art Online: Progressive light novel series by Reki Kawahara is the inspiration for the anime. As an updated retelling of Kawahara’s original Sword Art Online books, the novel series debuted in 2012. Floor by floor, the narrative follows Kirito as he makes his way through the floating Aincrad castle from the very beginning. The Sword Art Online: Progressive book series and two manga adaptations are also being published in English by Yen Press.
